Common topics covered in our mathematics class are counting and cardinality, operations and algebraic thinking, base ten operations, measurement and data, geometry, and fractions. Common skills include perseverance through problem solving, teaching back skills that have been learned, modeling, using multiple strategies, understanding mathematical patterns, and creating mathematical reasoning using words and numbers.
Reading comprehension is the ability to understand components of text such as the main idea, key details, characters, motivations, inferences, and messages or conclusions given. Students begin focusing intensely on reading comprehension as early as third grade. Common skills in our reading comprehension class include understanding key details and main text, relating and comparing stories, and visualizing story information.
Writing lessons are given to students looking to improve their grammar, writing stamina, understanding various writing styles, and creative thinking. Common skills in our writing class include translating creative thoughts into writing, understanding the structure of a story, reaching long-term and short-term writing goals, and incorporating new words into writing.
Grammar & Vocabulary

Handwriting lessons are given to students who need assistance with learning how to write, proper pencil placement, printing neatly, and cursive. Common skills in our handwriting class include learning to write neatly and clearly, proper pencil placement, and learning how to transcribe written material.
